Joanna and Jermaine MacDonagh are a local couple who moved to Hadleigh in August 2018 shortly after they were married.  Sons Mckenzie and Kye along with Daughter Roxanna make up the family.

Jo has always dreamed of owning her own establishment. She and Jermaine have taken over what was Crabtree’s café and given it a complete facelift.  The Flying Guardsman Café and Bar opened in mid – October serving Breakfasts, Lunches and light evening meals on Friday and Saturday when TFG will be open until 11pm. They wanted to create a place which had a different vibe for people in Hadleigh, somewhere to enjoy daytime calmness of a cafe and an evening of music and laughter. You will notice their passion for cocktails with their very generous cocktail menu - along with their own fresh mint garden especially for them!  It is fully licensed.

Jermaine is a career Soldier serving his first 12 years with the Grenadier Guards, including two tours of Afghanistan.  His ceremonial red tunic is proudly displayed in TFG.  But with marriage approaching, he transferred to the REME and is based at Wattisham where he is involved with the Army’s fleet of Apache Helicopters. Hence ’The Flying Guardsman’ 

Now that the marriage, moving home and a change of job, all within weeks, is behind them, and Roxanna has settled into Orwell Park School, the time was right for a further challenge.
